Mardi Gras

This weekend I took a road trip with Jill and Christine to Louisiana to go to Mardi Gras in the only place to do it..New Orleans! On the way down we did a pit stop at a random casino where Jill won 16 dollars..pretty sweet for slots. Then when we made it there we went to get cajun food. I had amazing seafood gumbo, but I wish I would have gotten the crawfish etoufee because it was amazing! I need to learn how to cook these things...my new goal! The next morning we woke up early and got delicious beignets and then met up with the boys. We went to Orleans St. where most of the college kids were. Jill and I were quite upset not to go to Bourbon all day, but it was made better once we got some alcohol in us. The parade was awesome, the floats are so intricate and amazing! I caught a bunch of beads, including a huge disc one that is pretty awesome. The guy behind me even gave me his pink beads because he said they weren't his color and he saw me get sad about not getting some of the beads. After not eating all day Jill and I felt really sick from not eating, but we eventually got some random crappy diner food. We then proceeded to Bourbon St. for the real party. It was soooo much fun! I loved all the people and all the beads. I got a few awkward requests including a guy at eye level trying to get me to flash, a guy that didn't want me to flash, but instead ask that I make out with Jill and then one guy who told me I guess things really do come bigger in Texas in response to my boobs. I think my best catch were beads that had a lacy thong attached that says lucky me. It started raining halfway through, but I still loved it. The next morning we ate at this great place where I had a delicious crab and cream cheese omelet. And of course I got some tx toast and Canes sauce to go for the ride home. Why do we not have a Canes in Austin? Now I am completely behind on schoolwork since I had a paper due monday and tomorrow I have two papers and a test. Oh well. Here is a pic of me and all my beads. Hopefully we go downtown tomorrow to celebrate the actual day of Mardi Gras!

Update

I really suck at consistently writing in this thing, but I'm trying to do better. So last weekend was amazing, Jill came and went with lots of fun in between, including a wonderful trip downtown, ring shopping, outlet mall shopping, watching Lost and wonderous food from Perry's to crabcakes! The week went by pretty fast and then on Thursday Caty and I got to see Friday the 13th for free and got to meet the guy who plays Jason aka Derek Mears. He was soo tall and quite scary, especially when he ended up sitting next to Caty during the climax of the movie, but also really sweet and funny in the Q&A. Friday Jessica came down from Lubbock to visit so we went for mexican martinis (really can't get enough of them) and texas teas and a little time at a beta late night. The rest of Valentines was spent watching random movies and studying. I'm supposed to be studying right now, but really don't want to...

Jill's Coming

My best friend Jill is coming to Austin tonight, I'm so excited. She's about 30 minutes out and I can't wait!! We're going to Kerbey for queso and then to Trudys for Mexican Martinis, then just chilling at my place. Tomorrow we have lots planned, it'll be a fun weekend for sure!

Fish Biscuit

Today was Lost day :) I think Wednesdays should just be renamed to reflect the all important show that is Lost. In class had some interesting birthing videos to watch, then I had a doctors appointment to get my thyroid checked. She asked how long I've felt fatigued and I responded with "my whole life" it got awkward, haha. The nurse taking my blood had the shakiest hands, I really hope nursing is not her major. Then I came home and baked some fish biscuits (see season 3 of Lost) and puppy chow. Vanessa, Sarah, and Lisa were the crowd for my Lost gathering, it was a good time, but the episode seemed so short. I'm very happy to learn Jin's fate and to see the Oceanic 6 finally coming together in one place. I'm very intrigued by the airline water bottle found on the shore, I feel this is in the future and may have to do with the Oceanic 6 returning. I also think that Myles is the son of Marvin Candle (or whatever name he chooses that day). I was very disappointed that the special thing during Life on Mars was Lost dolls reenacting a scene. What a waste. After that I watched the special features on the final Broadway show of Rent dvd. It made me cry seeing all the goodbyes and tears. I'm sad I never got to see it in that original theater on Broadway. Now I sit watching two episodes of Alias at once (because they are being very temperamental and slow to load), but I should be sleeping. I really miss having later classes...oh well.

Time to start over

So I definitely failed at keeping up with this blog before, but I want to start blogging about life in general with some tv thrown in there. It is my last semester of college so I have a feeling there is going to be a lot going on, too much to forget it all in a year or two. So far already my friends and I have gone downtown, had dirty game night, taco night, bowling, and to yogurt planet a bunch! I've been stressing myself out about applying to grad school because I'm terrified of not getting in, but I am making myself sit down this week and finish everything so it'll be done. I'm hoping to pursue marriage and family therapy. I'm taking a counseling class and I really like it so hopefully that means I am choosing the right path (well besides something in tv someday).

Now for the tv part. Here are a rundown of my midseason shows that I'm currently watching: Lost, Life on Mars, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Family Guy, Big Love, United States of Tara, Flight of the Concords, Chuck, Heroes, Medium, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, House, Fringe, Nip/Tuck, Psych, New Adventures of Old Christine, The Office. And soon when they come back on the air Reaper and Dollhouse. I know its ridiculous, but it makes me happy.
